Vntage 1960s Slide-O-Matic UNUSED Colvair Lighter Advertising Kent Cigarettes

Collectors Alert! Here’s a neat one with a sparking mechanism you don’t come across that often…and it’s an advertising lighters, too. This Vintage UNUSED (I personally unwrapped it from its original wrapping tissue) Colvair Lighter is in terrific shape. The white paneling backdrop paint for the Kent Cigarettes logo is pristine on both sides. The chrome has no visible imperfections. All this is great, but what I take note of as being interesting is the cool “Slide-O-Matic” sparking mechanism.

Most mechanical lighters of this type work by pressing straight down on the thumb-press causing the striker wheel to turn and the flame cover to open. This lighter does it better in my opinion. What it does is when you press down on the thumb press, the entire mechanism slides backwards, turning the striker wheel, while lifting the flame cover. In appearance it kind of looks like when kayak rowers are pulling on the power stroke a they fall backwards after the stroke. Lol. Hope that helps!
