My Space Station Story: A Personal Story About Growth Paperback – October 31, 2025

The International Space Station is an incredible machine, one of the modern wonders of the world. Hundreds of thousands have been employed in the design, development, maintenance and operation of this great facility. I was one of those fortunate enough for my career to paralleled its development and deployment. Along the way I worked on or managed a dozen different contributing elements, some very small, some very consequential. In this story, My Space Station Story, I capture accomplishments, failures, stresses and many of the lessons I learned along the way. Chance or fate would bring me into this world of amazing technological development, and would enrich my life with the many people I met along the way. It is incredible how decisions we make over our lives have such a long tail of consequences for many others. Just as in life, it is the same with the grand technology of an instrument of science that is the International Space Station, it did surprise and amaze me.It is appropriate, as we think of humankind’s ventures into space, that we consider it in the context of finding purpose and meaning not just for us in the present but for many future generations. The Space Station Program may exist as just a blink-of-the-eye of human history, but it served the purpose to inform us, employ us, and challenge us to look even further into the future.I can only imagine that there are thousands of stories like mine, where life experiences and passion to accomplish something of importance coincide with unique opportunity.
