(2) Screw-in crown: Before operation, you must first loosen the crown by turning it counterclockwise (usually there will be a "pop-off" feeling). After the operation is completed, you must press the crown and tighten it clockwise until you feel resistance to ensure waterproofness. (2) Avoid quickly adjusting the calendar during the "no adjustment period" displayed on the watch (usually between 9 pm and 3 am). The calendar mechanism is working at this time, and forced adjustment may easily cause damage to the gears. Maintaining Power (for Manual-Wound Watches): A manual-wound movement requires regular manual winding of the crown to replenish its mainspring. This is typically done daily or every other day. Winding Method: Gently and steadily turn the crown clockwise with your finger (usually 20-40 turns, or until noticeable resistance is felt. Avoid excessive force to prevent breaking the mainspring). Notes: 30 meters/3 ATM/3 bar: Waterproof only for everyday splashing (washing hands, rain), not suitable for swimming or showering. 50 meters/5 ATM/5 bar: Waterproof for brief immersion (washing hands, playing in a shallow pool), not recommended for active swimming or diving. 100 meters/10 ATM/10 bar and above: Generally suitable for swimming and snorkeling. 200 meters/20 ATM/20 bar and above: Suitable for professional swimming and scuba diving (diving watches must also have a screw-down crown and helium escape valve). Never use a watch with any water resistance rating in a hot bath, sauna, or hot spring! Thermal expansion and contraction can create tiny gaps in the watch case, allowing water vapor (smaller than liquid water molecules) to penetrate. High temperatures also accelerate the aging of the water-resistant seal. Make sure the crown is fully pushed in or screwed down (for screw-down crowns). Avoid operating the crown or buttons underwater (unless it's a professional dive watch specifically marked for underwater use). 【Key Considerations During Time Adjustment (Most Important!)】 Avoiding the Calendar Restricted Zone (for watches with calendar/day functions): This is the most important consideration! Restricted Zone: Typically refers to approximately 8:00 PM/9:00 PM to approximately 2:00 AM/3:00 AM the following morning (please refer to your watch manual for the specific range, as it varies depending on the movement). During this time, the movement's calendar train is operating, automatically switching the date. Prohibited Operations: Absolutely DO NOT use the crown to quickly adjust the calendar or day during this time! Forcing the crown can cause gear misalignment, jamming, or even damage the calendar module, resulting in expensive repairs. How to Determine: The safest method is to first adjust the time outside the restricted zone (for example, to 6:30 AM) before adjusting the calendar. This principle also applies if you are unsure whether the movement is currently in the restricted zone. Safe Method for Adjusting the Calendar/Day: Confirm that the current dial time is not in the restricted zone (preferably in the morning, such as 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM). Pull the crown out to the first position (usually used for adjusting the calendar/day). Turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise (depending on the movement design) to adjust the date or day of the week. Do this gently and evenly. If the date needs to be adjusted for a large number of days (for example, from the 5th to the 28th), repeatedly letting the time pass midnight can allow the date to advance naturally. This is slower but safest. Alternatively, you can adjust the date quickly during a safe period, but still be gentle. To adjust the time: Pull the crown out to the second (outward) position. The second hand will usually stop at this point (though some advanced movements may not). Turn the crown clockwise to adjust the hour and minute hands. Why clockwise? This is the design requirement for most movements. Counterclockwise rotation may cause unnecessary stress or idle rotation on the gear train, and prolonged or forceful operation may damage the transmission. If you need to adjust the time, the safest method is to first turn the crown clockwise several times (over 24 hours) before adjusting it clockwise to the desired time. Avoid adjusting the hands counterclockwise if possible. Correction Accuracy: When aligning to the target time, slightly advance the minute hand and then gently return it (clockwise) to the precise position to minimize the effects of gear play. Use slow, steady movements. Addressing AM/PM: When adjusting the time on a watch with a date function, ensure that the correct distinction between AM and PM is made. A simple method is to first set the time to around 6:00 (avoiding restricted areas), adjust the calendar, and then adjust the time clockwise past 12:00 (noon). If the date jumps, it means you are currently at midnight; if it does not jump, it means you are currently at noon. Based on this, continue adjusting the time to your desired time (AM or PM). This will prevent the date from jumping erroneously at noon.
